    Choosing the right channel

Where to show up – choosing the right channels

Not every channel works for every audience. What matters is meeting people where they are.

    • If your audience values personal connection, focus on face-to-face meetings, pamphlets, or letters.
    • If they are younger and spend time online, social media may be the best way to reach them.
    • If they are rural or elderly, radio, TV, or community events may be more effective.

    Potential channels to consider:

    • Website
    • Email
    • Social media
    • Print (flyers, letters, pamphlets)
    • Broadcasting (radio, TV)
    • Search ads
    • Apps
    • Events
    • Public relations (PR, press releases, local media)

The key is not to waste energy shouting in an empty room. Choose channels that your audience already trusts and uses.

    Biblical example

Jesus modelled this perfectly. He adjusted His communication depending on His audience and context:

    • He spoke in parables to the crowds so they could grasp spiritual truths through familiar stories.
    • He taught in the synagogue when addressing religious leaders.
    • He had personal conversations (like with the Samaritan woman at the well) when someone needed individual care.

In the same way, your ministry should consider: Where does our audience gather? How do they listen best? Then bring your message there, again and again.

    Activity:

Look at the list of channels above. Which ones would be the most effective for your audience? Choose 2–3 that fit best and write them down. Then, sketch a simple timeline for when and how often you’ll use them to repeat your message.

Remember: Clear message + right audience + clear call to action+ right channels + timeline = Campaign.
