Purpose of Vision

Depending on the kind of leader you are, you may struggle to cast vision. Probably your skill lies more with caring for people, or creating organisational health that enables an organisation to thrive, or some other valuable leadership trait. The good news is that learning to cast vision is something that can be learned, not unlike learning to play guitar or tie a shoelace.

Let’s hear from Neil as he explores the purpose of vision and how it contributes to the success of a team.

Leaders may differ, but all must be able to cast vision.
Proverbs: “Without vision, the people perish” – vision keeps people moving toward God’s mission.
Apostolic vision = carrying God’s message as His sent messenger.
Legitimate vision points to God’s Kingdom; false vision leads people astray.
Research shows: people need leaders to provide a clear path forward; a lack of vision causes inaction.
Many leaders struggle to cast compelling, emotive visions, but it is a skill that can be developed.

Purpose of vision:

Unifies teams around a goal.
Inspires action and hope.
Provides direction and courage.
Without vision, teams stagnate, achieving little lasting impact.
With vision, teams become unstoppable and accomplish great things.
Every godly vision is a subset of God’s ultimate mission.
Leaders must reflect: Does my vision clearly connect to God’s vision?
Vision casting is essential in every spiritual leader’s toolkit.

Think of that for a moment… is there a clear line connecting your vision to the broad mission of God?
