“Organisational culture is created by leaders. One of the most decisive functions of leadership may well be the creation, the management, and, if necessary, the destruction of culture.”

    Dr Edgar Schein

    How organisational culture is formed:

    • What the leaders pay attention to, measure and control
    • A leader’s actions to critical incidents or crisis.
    • What the leaders models, teaches and coaches.
    • Allocation of rewards and status
    • The criteria for selection, promotion and retirement

    How Jesus formed Kingdom culture:

    • Authentic engagement
    • Invited others to participate
    • Gave empowerment
    • Jesus corrects

    Flourishing communities:

    • When we flourish, it’s not merely a surface-level contentment; it’s a profound experience of emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being. It’s as if we come alive, radiating peace, cheerfulness, and an overwhelming sense of satisfaction.
    • In flourishing environments, we actively pursue purpose and meaning. We don’t merely exist; we become co-creators in a grand divine plan.
    • Strong relationships and interconnectedness form the cornerstone of flourishing communities, and inspired organisations.
    • What you model has a profound impact on whether the environment is truly inspiring.
    • When we, as individuals, flourish, we collectively flourish as a community. In this state of flourishing, we become powerful agents of positive change, co-creating in alignment with a divine plan set in motion from the very dawn of our existence.

What I want (The culture I am cultivating) What I do (My behaviours)
(e.g. Relational atmosphere) (e.g. I spend time getting to know my staff, asking them questions about their home lives, families etc. throughout the day or I spend most of my day in the office behind a closed door as I have a lot of work)
(e.g. Trust) (e.g. I make sure I allow my staff time and space to do their work, I show them I trust them as much as possible. Or I need to make sure my staff is working and doing their assigned tasks every day, so I check in with them as much as possible, and request hourly updates.)
