    Actions:

    • Research and create a list of potential donors or participants based on their interests, philanthropic history, or involvement in similar causes.
    • Use data analytics, social media, and networking to identify new prospects.
    • Segment your audience based on their potential level of interest and ability to contribute.

    2. Introduce:

Objective: Make a meaningful first connection by introducing yourself and your organisation.

    Actions:

    • Craft a compelling introduction that clearly explains who you are, what your organisation does, and why it matters.
    • Personalise the introduction based on what you know about the individual’s interests and values.
    • Choose the appropriate medium for the introduction—email, phone call, in-person meeting, or social media.

    3. Inform:

Objective: Keep your audience informed about your work, achievements, and impact.

    Actions:

    • Regularly update potential donors with newsletters, impact reports, and stories that highlight the organisation’s success and challenges.
    • Use storytelling to connect on an emotional level, illustrating the tangible effects of their potential support.
    • Provide transparent information about how donations are used and the outcomes they help achieve.

    4. Invite:

Objective: Encourage active participation through time, talent, or treasure.

    Actions:

    • Clearly outline opportunities for involvement, whether through volunteer work, attending events, or making donations.
    • Tailor invitations based on the individual’s interests and past engagement.
    • Make it easy to say “yes” by providing clear instructions and multiple options for participation.

    5. Initiate:

Objective: Welcome and integrate the new donor or participant into your mission.

    Actions:

    • Provide a warm and personalised welcome that reinforces their decision to engage with your organisation.
    • Offer orientation or onboarding resources to help them understand their role and how they can make the most impact.
    • Encourage continued involvement through follow-up communication, engagement opportunities, and recognition of their contributions.
