    Course summary

Well done on completing this course. Here is a summary of the key ideas from the course. We encourage you to discuss what you have learnt with your team.

“If we stop presenting ourselves as the heroes and we serve as a guide in educating our supporters about the problem and how they can join in in ways on how to solve the problem, then our supporters become the heroes. Our supporters are men and women who are on a journey to serve God themselves.”

    Building trust

The true currency of an organisation is not the donations it receives, it is trust.

People tend to distrust things that they do not understand and they trust things that they are a part of developing.

    Three ways to build trust

    • Be a constant student of the work you do
    • Provide compelling evidence of your organisation’s effectiveness
    • Know the community you serve

    Leaders guide questions:

    • Who is the hero of your organisation’s story? Review recent communication sent out to your supporters (e.g. progress update, success story, etc). Who is positioned at the centre of the story?
    • In what ways can you improve the trust you build with supporters?
