Biblical Growth in Ministry
Definition:
- Growth in ministry is not about skills or efficiency, but about becoming more like Christ and helping others do the same.
- It is both an individual calling and a corporate (community) responsibility.
1. Individual Growth
- Begins with abiding in Christ
- John 15:5 – “I am the vine; you are the branches…”
- Growth flows from remaining connected to Christ through prayer, His Word, and obedience.
- Renewed by God’s truth: Romans 12:2 – Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, letting God reshape thoughts, values, and priorities.
- Faith in action: James 1:22 – Growth isn’t just knowledge; it’s living out faith daily in obedience.
2. Corporate (Shared) Growth
- Rooted in love and unity
- Equipped for ministry together
- Teaching toward maturity
- Sharpening one another
3. The Role of Leaders
- Leaders are stewards of people God entrusts to them.
- Called to help each person discover their gifts, calling, and place in God’s mission.
- Stewardship includes nurturing unity and collaboration within the team to fulfil God’s purpose together.
4. The Biblical Call to Growth
- Growth = discipleship — the lifelong journey of becoming like Jesus and inviting others to do the same.
- It is personal and communal, individual and collective.
- When embraced, the Church becomes what God intended:
- Alive, maturing, and fully engaged in His mission.
