Analogy:

Extremely tall kids pressured to play basketball → did not enjoy it → quit.
Lesson: Success is impossible if you dislike the activity → applies to fundraising.

Key Idea:

Fundraising is often seen as scary, uncomfortable, or “begging.”
Many in ministry see fundraising as a necessary evil separate from real ministry.
Truth: Fundraising itself is a ministry.
Treating and nurturing supporters is as important as serving those helped.

Personal Experience:

Initially uncomfortable asking for support.
Over time, fundraising attracted people eager to be involved.
Built friendships and deep connections with supporters.
Learned fundraising can be life-giving and joyful.

Biblical Example:

Jesus had financial supporters (Luke 8: Mary, Joanna, Susanna, others).
Though able to perform miracles for provision, He allowed people to contribute.

Mindset Shift:

See fundraising as a blessing, not a burden.
Opportunity to love, encourage, and build lasting relationships with supporters.
Leads to a stronger community and deeper joy in ministry.

Encouragement:

Embrace fundraising as a life-giving part of ministry.
Value supporters beyond their giving capacity.
