Identifying high potential emerging leaders

Leader development has three parts: identification, development, and deployment; all three matter and neglect leads to failure.
Identification is critical: training the wrong people wastes time, money, and frustrates everyone (Ralph Winter).
Jesus modelled intentional identification when choosing His disciples (Mark 3; John 15).
Common wrong identification methods include ability to pay, family connections, academic degrees, and assuming training can fix anyone.
The FAT model (Faithful, Available, Teachable) is limited: faithfulness is essential for character but not a predictor of leadership potential, availability can exclude real leaders, and FAT alone is not enough to identify leaders.
